Retro look “Vintage Mug” – surprises everyone with ZERO plastic content!

Everyone loves Click and Grow!
The material used is called PLA (polylactic acid). Similar to “BPA-free”, “PLA” will become a very commonly used material in the near future. It is just a matter of time that PLA will gradually replace some plastic tableware in our daily life.
PLA = ECO
PLA is made of 100% plant starch extract, hence is 100% biodegradable and furthermore compostable. Vintage Mug has used the latest heat resistant PLA (-20°C-120°C). Not only it is microwave safe, it is also dishwasher (top rack) safe. On top of that, the carbon emission is 60% lower than the conventional plastic during material production.
PLA = PLA “IN”, Plastic “OUT”
The recent "plasticizing agent" has caused huge public. PLA has NO BPA, NO harmful plasticizer and NO plastic DNA. The nostalgic Vintage Mug is 100% safe and ECO, gives everyone a peace of mind.
Vintage Mug = 70s look spiced up with ECO element
A reminiscence of the thermal bottle used in the 60-70s? Spot on. This is exactly where the design inspiration came from. Inner flask, in the old days, however was quite fragile and incidentally caused mercury leakage hazardous to our body. Vintage Mug carries the same sophisticated silhouette, yet totally different in terms of structure and make up. The PLA material used is 100% ECO and safe, more durable and user-friendly; a funky mug version for the retro lovers.
Vintage Mug = Adorable as well as practical
For this coming Christmas, Vintage Mug has launched two series - "Mr Men & Little Miss" and "Nostalgic Chinese Style". The former is loved and adored by many kids, while kidults will probably grab all 3 different styles to make a complete collection. The latter, quite obvious, is a collaboration between ECO Concepts and Goods of Desire (G.O.D.). The groovy Chinese patterns and Vintage Mug are just like long lost friends finally get together and somehow create a wild factor.
The single-layer design carries a capacity of 500ml. You can comfortably pour a 375ml bottle drink and top it up with a few ice cubes. The keep warm capability though is no match with any stainless steel thermo, you can always reheat your beverage with microwave whenever it gets cold. When filled with hot coffee, tea or chocolate, simply use the handle to avoid scalding hands. Vintage Mug is stylish, simple and practical.
ECO Concepts = 100% Hong Kong Design
Cost of this heat-resistant PLA is almost double or triple that of regular plastic, technically demanding and extremely difficult to control during production. ECO Concepts is one of the few companies in the world who is willing to dedicate the time and money to design and produce stylish PLA house-ware. ECO Concepts is 100% Hong Kong design, and a new blood in the global eco industry.

ECO Facts

• North Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour.
• Every year some 45,000 tons of plastic waste are dumped into the world's oceans. One of the results of this is that up to one million seabirds and one hundred thousand marine mammals are killed each year by plastic trash such as fishing gear, six-pack yokes, sandwich bags, and styrofoam cups.
• Paper cups consume trees, water, and chemicals, and dump them into streams and landfills - they are not re-cyclable. Paper cups are often wax-coated which reduces their bio-degradeability futher. Paper products make up over 40 percent by weight , slightly higher by volume - of this country's municipal solid waste, by far the largest contributor. Paper Recycling and its role in Solid Waste Management. Every year nearly 900,000,000 trees are cut down to provide raw materials for American paper and pulp mills. (Business Stastistics, 1986)
• Symphony spokesman said: “Campaigns to reduce the use of plastic bags, and to make them from recyclate, are all very well, but what is to happen to the bags and other plastic products which escape collection? They will lie or float around for decades in the environment if they are not degradable.
• What is Bisphenol A?
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical found in polycarbonate bottles (a hard plastic bottle), which acts in a similar way to hormones, and has been linked to cancer, reproductive issues and hormonal issues in animals.
Although the NZ Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) considers it safe, Ian Shaw – Professor of Toxicology at Canterbury University – says it has the potential to reduce sperm count, cause premature puberty in girls, and increase breast and testicular cancer in humans.
Interestingly, in Oct 2008 Canada banned the sale of baby’s bottles containing BPA, and last month the head of the US federal agency studying BPA safety said pregnant women, infants and children should avoid ingesting the chemical.
• Unfortunately, a “BPA-free” label offers no assurance that a product won’t leach chemicals with estrogenic activity (EA), according to a study that appeared in the online March 2, 2011 issue of Environmental Health Perspectives. In fact, the study measured EA leaching from all sorts of food-contact plastic products made with resins other than polycarbonate.
